Volcano erupts in Japan

A volcano erupted near Kagoshima City, South-West of Japan on Sunday afternoon. Mount Sakurajima experienced the eruption, thereby expelling ash into the air. The ash spewed as high as 5 Kilometers and lava flowed about 1 kilometer from the fissure.

People wore masks and used umbrellas to protect themselves from the ashes. City cleaning was mobilized. Railway services were suspended until the clean-up.

According to officials, no injuries or damage has been reported.
